The mystery man from Suffolk plans to use his winnings to go on holiday

A National Lottery winner bagged a £1million jackpot after he selected numbers that were sentimental to him.

The man, known as Mr S, won the huge sum of money in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw on January 14.

The mystery man from Suffolk, who has chosen to remain anonymous, also won an additional £3.20 in last month’s draw.

The Suffolk local picked numbers that had a sentimental meaning to him and he now plans to use his winnings to go on holiday.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “What incredible news for Mr. S, who can celebrate his new millionaire status in style on a lovely holiday. Huge congratulations!”

The freshly-made millionaire is one of over nine million players that win each week in the National Lottery’s range of games.

Winners can choose to remain anonymous, release their name, or supply partial details to the public.

And there are now three more winners who have scooped £1million in the latest Lotto draw who need to come forward to claim their prize.

NATIONAL LOTTERY LATEST:

The lucky ticket-holders have each matched five numbers plus the bonus ball on the February 5 draw.

No players managed to match all six main numbers, meaning the jackpot went unclaimed.

Yesterday, the National Lottery confirmed a claim has been received on the £83,474,081.80 jackpot prize.

The EuroMillions draw, which took place on January 24, had gone unclaimed for almost a fortnight.

Operator Allwyn said the lucky ticket-holder, who was in possession of their ticket for 13 days before registering their claim, placed them at number 23 on the National Lottery’s "most spectacular" wins of all time.

The winning ticket, purchased in a shop, matched all five main numbers: 02, 11, 19, 30, 49 and Lucky Star numbers 03 and 08.

The lottery operator had previously emphasised how unusual it was for such a substantial prize to remain unclaimed for this length of time, noting it was the “biggest prize to have gone unclaimed at this stage”.
