The man, who purchased the ticket for just 85p, said he is 'still struggling to believe this is all real'

A National Lottery winner who bagged €1million (£850,135) has revealed his partner’s hilarious reaction to his life-changing win.

The man, from Wicklow, Ireland, purchased the lucky ticket for just €1(85p) on April 14.

He decided to buy an online ticket for the Daily Million draw after he received an email that notified him of his account’s balance.

“I won’t lie, it’s been a while since I’ve played any lottery game,” the anonymous man said.

“I got an email from the Lottery team to say there was a balance remaining on my online account, so I decided to put it towards the upcoming Daily Million draw – obviously not thinking much of it.”

Later that day, he received another email which notified him that he had won a prize, though he only checked the email properly that evening.

To his disbelief, the Wicklow man saw that he was €1million richer.

Calling his partner to share the news, she responded in a fit of giggles.

“She laughed at me down the phone, telling me I was having her on. I had to log back into the account to see if it was still there – we really couldn’t believe it.

“To be honest, I’m still struggling to believe this is all real!”

Last week, a Euromillions winner who bagged an eye-watering €52million revealed the “crazy” first thing he plans on spending his money on.

Some previous winners have chosen to splash the cash on an extravagant trip abroad, a down payment on a house or go towards retirement plans.

However, the Belgian has opted to go for a more humble, reserved approach to life.

He said: “It may seem crazy, but the first thing I want to do is buy myself a few new shirts.”
