A study has revealed that one in four people in the UK will be a migrant by 2035, with taxpayers funding a £234 billion crisis.

The report, carried out by the Centre for Migration Control (CMC), found that one in four living people in Britain in the next decade will be a migrant.

According to the Office for National Statistics, the population will rise to 75.36million by 2035.

The CMC has estimated that 18.2 million of these will have been born abroad.

The centre used ONS figures to estimate how many people born outside Britain will move here and how many will leave or die.

Research by the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) also revealed that around two million migrants will be eligible for indefinite leave to remain.

According to the CPS, this will cost the economy £234 billion.

This would be equivalent to £8,200 for every household across several decades.

Robert Bates from the CMC said: “The stresses mass migration places on public services are undeniable.”

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch also hit out at the number, calling for an end to the “conveyor belt to a precious British passport”.

She said: “The country can’t afford the Labour Party’s lax approach to immigration.”

The Home Office said: “The figures refer to high levels of net migration under the previous government."

It comes as Britain’s birth rate is below replacement levels, with 4.9 million people estimated to emigrate in the coming years - as a result, net population growth will be entirely driven by migrants.

The flow of migrants is also due to make the population of Britain younger and more religiously diverse.
