An immigration expert has outlined a "simple solution" to tackle the record-breaking number of small boat migrants crossing the English Channel.
Immigration expert Mike Jones made the comments as a record-busting 669 migrants arrived in Dover Harbour today.
The figure surpasses the previous high of 656 who crossed on Saturday, according to GB News's reports from Dover.
Another small boat carrying approximately 70 migrants was being monitored making progress towards UK waters.

Speaking on GB News, Martin Daubney said that the small boat crossings "feels like a taxi service."
Jones responded: "That's the UN convention of the laws of the sea. Basically boats have to operate like a taxi service.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
"There's no way around that unless you withdraw from certain international conventions.
"But unless you're prepared to go down that route and you allow people to drown, then you could be charged with involuntary manslaughter. And that's the danger there.
"But there's a very simple solution. If you detain and deport people once they arrive, you create a deterrent effect, and people stop crossing the English Channel.
"Unless we have that, then more and more records are going to be broken."
Martin asked: "Are you also struck, as I am by another grim new trend? That is the sheer volume of individuals on these boats. They're talking about 70 people on a craft. I mean, that's a disaster waiting to happen. They're simply overloaded. They can't cope with that."
Jones said: "They're packed into boats like sardines in a tin. And the reason for that is because the French authorities have actually stepped up their game in Calais.
"They do apprehend boats. They look at camps that are there and try to dismantle them. So there's a very limited window of opportunity. But what the the gangs do is they outsource the risk onto the migrants. So it's in the gangs interest to pack these people into boats as tightly as possible.
"But of course, that increases the risk of fatalities. And it's just a matter of time before we have another catastrophic event."
A record number of migrants crossed the channel today

Despite frequent rain showers across the Channel, Border Force and French border patrols have been overwhelmed with small boat sightings.
The record numbers come as a blow to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who had promised his Government would "smash the gangs".
A senior maritime security source told GB News: "This is an absolute disaster for Labour's border security policies."
The source added: "We've been shown a number of successes recently, in terms of the National Crime Agency and other law enforcement agencies making numerous arrests of suspected people smugglers."
"But the fact is, we're not seeing the gangs smashed, we're seeing all previous records for migrant crossings being smashed."
