In an exclusive report by GB News, it was revealed that dozens of skilled worker visas were granted by the Home Office, despite failing to meet legal requirements.

Immigration specialists have since demanded an urgent review of the visas granted by the Home Office.

It follows the publication of a National Audit Office report that warned the Government did not have the necessary systems in place to stop exploitation of the immigration route.

Immigration Lawyer Harjap Singh Bhangal hit out at the latest 'scandal' to rock the Home Office

Speaking to GB News, Immigration Lawyer Harjap Singh Bhangal hit out at the Home Office, branding their operation "incompetent", claiming they are "not fit for purpose".

Bhangal said: "There's nothing new here. Mistakes are made, and we know the Home Office is incompetent. Every year there's a Home Affairs Select Committee report, and they report that the Home Office is not fit for purpose.

"So what that means is essentially you've got a machinery trying to produce a product which it's not capable of producing. So you're not going to get a good product."

Criticising the work of the Home Office, Bhangal claimed that the authority is increasingly facing "scandal after scandal", noting other failures of the Home Office in processing documentation correctly.

Bhangal explained: "It does seem to be recently scandals upon scandals, and this is happening since the highly skilled migrant programme, the fake colleges, which were granted licenses in 2010 and 2011 to give visas, which some turned out to be about just one room above a factory.

"Recently this year, the care sector scandals - thousands of workers have been called here to work in the care sector, and the jobs haven't been given to them. They've been charged thousands of pounds to get here and left in limbo."

When questioned by host Alex Armstrong if the Home Office department is dealing with "too much to cope with" when it comes to immigration, Bhangal hit out at the Government for "papering over the cracks" rather than addressing the "business model".

He said: "You'd think in any business where every year you've been told actually your business is not good, the models are not good, the setup's not good, you'd go to a new business model and make changes in order to correct that.

"However, instead, not only is the department running incompetently, but the people running it are getting bonuses for running it incompetently."

In a pointed attack on the Home Office, Bhangal concluded: "This Home Office is not fit for purpose. It's like having cracked walls, putting a roof on and expecting it to bear some load. They're just papering over the cracks and telling everyone, look, we're the brand new wall.

"There are scandals upon scandals which don't seem to end regardless, so it's something that the Government needs to consider. They can't promise a brilliant product if you haven't got the machinery to produce it. It's quite simple."

In a statement, a Home Office spokesperson said: "Sponsoring organisations must meet strict duties and be able to offer genuine vacancies in order to obtain a licence.

"Where a sponsor fails in those duties, or sponsors workers for non-genuine vacancies we will take action, including revoking their licence."
