The French Interior Minister suggested Britain is a soft touch nation

A feisty row broke out on GB News last night over the ever worsening migrant crisis between broadcasters Adam Brooks and Nina Myskow.

It comes after the French Interior Minister suggested Britain is a soft touch nation - a key factor in why asylum seekers continue to make the dinghy-assisted trip across the Channel in their droves.

Brooks argued that the minister is correct in his claim, while Myskow hit back to argue many European countries have the same issue as Britain.

“I have been banging on about this for 10 years, we have a massive illegal immigration problem in this country and it is only getting worse”, he said.

“We now have a Labour government that is softer than the Conservatives. We have got people travelling here as economic migrants.

“You have to be very naive to believe that these people aren’t just coming to this country for what they can get. They get free housing, free food, free medical treatment, free travel in some instances.

“Why didn’t they settle in some of the several countries they passed through to get here? Many of them call us ‘El Dorado’, they think they’ll get rich. They work for these delivery apps or taxi services.

“That’s without the danger to our society, we don’t know who they are or what they’ve done. These are people that are stabbing and shooting people. Enough is enough.”

Myskow, shaking her head, branded his comments “inflammatory” and said Brooks “can’t back up” his comments.

She added: “Nobody cares. What I will not take is you exaggerating and making blind assumptions about people.

“You say they’re stabbing and shooting people. You’re making out all these people are criminals. They are coming from Syria and Eritrea and fleeing war.

“You’re implying they’re all men coming to attack our women.”

GB News host Martin Daubney waded in to defend Brooks, saying “I don’t think he said that” while adding the “facts are on the table” when it comes to the bleak image of migrant crossings.

“Germany has exactly the same benefits as the UK, they aren’t just coming here for the benefits”, she said.

“Germany takes more asylum seekers than France and Spain combined and they both take more than we do.”

Channel migrant crossings continued yesterday despite 12 deaths from people attempting the same journey the day prior.

A pregnant woman and six children were among those who lost their lives in what is being described as the deadliest Channel crossings tragedy of the year so far when their boat was “ripped apart” and sank off the northern French coast of Cap Gris-Nez on Tuesday.

French interior minister Gerald Darmanin reportedly called for a UK-EU migration treaty to curb crossings in the wake of the tragedy.

But Downing Street rejected this, with a spokesman saying: “We have no plans to be part of an EU scheme on asylum, but we will continue to work with European partners to shut down smuggling routes and smash those criminal gangs.”
