WATCH: Police say abandoned baby found by dog walker is now 'safe and well' in hospital

Metropolitan Police have issued a statement, after a newborn baby was found in a shopping bag by a dog walker in East London.

The baby was an hour old when she was discovered by a passer by in Newham.

The Police said: "I am delighted to report that she wasn't injured in any way and is safe and well in the care of hospital staff."
