A protester has scaled Sheffield Town Hall to rip down an Israeli flag and tried to replace it with a Palestinian one.

Video footage shows a man shuffling along the ridge of the building, before getting to the mast and tearing down the white and blue flag.

Chucking it to the ground below, pro-Palestinian crowds cheered him on.

He then tries to raise the Palestinian flag in its place.

Suella Braverman has urged officers to use the “full force of the law” against Hamas following its attack against Israel on Saturday morning.

She warned that waving a Palestinian flag “may not be legitimate” if it is done with the intention of supporting Hamas.

On Monday, The Metropolitan police confirmed that they have increased their number of patrols in London amid fears of antisemitic attacks due to the ongoing fighting in Gaza.

The force said it would put more officers on the streets in response to a "number of incidents" of people celebrating Hamas' attack on Israel.
