Multiple people have been rushed to hospital via air ambulance after a "serious" collision on the M6 motorway.
The crash occurred on the northbound carriageway at M6 Thelwall Viaduct, junction 21 Warrington.
Emergency services rushed to the scnee during rush hour after being alerted to the crash at 7.48am this morning.
The collision is said to have involved two HGVs, a white Ford Zetec and a white Ford Kuga.
The road was at first closed in both directions but the southbound carriageway has since been reopened.
National Highways said in a statement: "There's now nearly a 90 minute delay northbound and 45 minutes south."
"Traffic is being diverted via the exit & entry slips," it added.
"Emergency services are still on scene.
"There's an hour and a half delay on approach. Please consider alternative routes."
One person sustained a serious chest injury as a result of the crash and had to be taken to hospital via air ambulance.
Meanwhile, multiple others involved were rushed to hospital via paramedics.
"Fire and ambulance were called to the scene and the road was closed in both directions to allow air ambulance to land," Cheshire Police said in a statement.
