A 21-year-old was found with a gunshot wound late on Monday night

A murder investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed in West London on Monday, the Metropolitan Police have said.

Officers were called following a disturbance on West Kensington's Comeragh Road at 10.17pm last night (April 1), where a 21-year-old was found with a gunshot wound.

Despite receiving treatment from paramedics, the man died at the scene just before 11pm; a crime scene remains in place on the street, but no arrests have yet been made, the Met said.

Clare O'Gorman, who lives in the area, told GB News: "We heard a loud bang at about 10.15pm and assumed it came from the building site... It wasn’t until about 10.30pm when all the police turned up we realised it was something more sinister.

"The armed police turned up and thought that the shooter was still in the area and were worried that they were hiding in the building site - they got the police helicopter overhead to help with trying to see if the gunman was there. They were not there and had fled."

A local resident said she heard a "loud gunshot" at 10.15pm, with "lots of police and ambulance" arriving at Comeragh Road 15 minutes later.

She continued: "I think someone was [hurt] sadly - I heard someone screaming for an ambulance as the police arrived.

"Police have been going door to door speaking to the neighbours to see if they saw anything."
