London fire: 11 people rushed to hospital as 100 firefighters tackle Kensington flat blaze

London Fire Brigade was alerted about the blaze at 12.31am
Eleven people have been taken to hospital after firefighters descended on a terraced house converted to flats in West London to tackle an enormous blaze.
London Fire Brigade rushed to tackle a blaze in Emperor's Gate in South Kensington as the inferno erupted in the five-storey building at around midnight.
Part of the building was still alight at around 2.20am, with five people being rescued from the first, second and fourth floors of the building.
Eleven people were rushed to hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.

Around 15 people left the building when blaze started and before firefighters arrived.
Two people were rescued by crews from a second floor flat using a ladder.
Another two people were rescued from a fourth floor flat by crews using a turntable ladder.
One resident was rescued from a first floor flat by crews using a short extension ladder.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 12.31am.
The blaze was eventually brought under control by 4.40am.
Firefighters from Kensington, Fulham, Battersea, Hammersmith, Chelsea, North Kensington and surrounding fire stations were all in attendance.
Station Commander Steve Collins said: "The fire spread from the ground floor to the top floor and roof of the property.

"Crews worked extremely hard to contain it and prevent the blaze spreading to adjacent buildings.
"Road closures are in place and likely to remain well into the morning rush hour so motorists are advised to avoid the area.
"However, there is no impact on rail services and they will be running as normal."
London Fire Brigade is still investigating the cause of the fire.
