Car leaves shoppers terrified after smashing through storefront at retail park - ‘Bedlam’

A car has terrified local shoppers after it smashed into a retail park store.
The black Volkswagen left a trail of broken glass and debris after it smashed through the front of a Boots in Liverpool.
Terrified shoppers described the scene as “bedlam” as the vehicle came to a stop inside the store.
Two fire engines, two ambulances and five police vehicles are believed to have attended the scene.
According to witnesses, crowds gathered at the Boots in Edge Lane after the incident occurred just after 2pm.
“We can confirm that emergency services are on the retail park in Montrose Way in Liverpool this afternoon (Thursday 7 December),” a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said.
“Just after 2pm we received a report that a black Volkswagen Tiguan drove into a shop on Montrose Way.
“Further enquiries established the vehicle was involved in a collision with three other cars before it drove into the store.
“No injuries have been reported to police and a cordon is in place on Montrose Way whilst emergency services remain at the scene.

“Witness and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the area.

Footage from the scene shows a small cordon has been erected outside the store’s entrance.
It also shows the abandoned Tiguan SUV with all its doors wide open.
Police have also confirmed the car smashed into at least three other vehicles before ploughing into the Boots.
One silver car parked outside the store was reportedly seen with a noticeable dent on one of the doors.
The store sits next to an M&S foodhall and an H&M retailer.
At time of writing, it is not known whether the neighbouring stores also suffered damage.
