A seven-year-old girl has suffered life-changing injuries after a quad bike she was travelling on crashed into a telegraph pole in Leeds on Boxing Day.

The incident occurred in Kippax, leading to three arrests, including a teenage boy on suspicion of dangerous driving and two adults for child neglect.


The young victim remains in hospital with serious injuries, which police have confirmed are not life-threatening.

The crash took place outside the Old Tree Inn pub on Kippax High Street, where the green all-terrain quad bike collided with a telegraph pole.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in connection with the incident.

The vehicle was identified as a Honda TRX420, which was later recovered from the scene.

A man and a woman, both in their 30s, have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect following the Boxing Day incident.

The two adults are currently being questioned in police custody in relation to the crash.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and any CCTV or dashcam footage showing the quad bike being ridden around Kippax from 10pm on Boxing Day.

The appeal specifically focuses on the 30-minute period before emergency services were called to the scene.

Police are particularly interested in any sightings of the Honda TRX420 in the area during this timeframe.


The young girl remains in hospital with injuries that police describe as "serious and life-changing but are not considered life-threatening".

The road where the incident occurred was closed for several hours following the crash.

Authorities confirmed the area was reopened to traffic at 1:30pm after the quad bike had been recovered from the scene.
