Lee Anderson was embroiled in a feisty exchange with Sheikh Ramzy from the Oxford Islamic Information Centre over the riots currently gripping Britain.
Ramzy’s assertion that Reform UK figures like Lee himself and Nigel Farage could put a stop to the riots irked his debating partner who demanded the Islamic Centre boss be taken off air.
Ramzy said the country needs to “unite” in the wake of violence and chaos caused by rioters who have taken to the streets.
“A united Britain is one of the best countries in the world”, he said.

Lee went on to claim the Muslim community must do more to speak out against Islamists, while acknowledging “99 per cent” of the religion’s community is peaceful.

“Look at some of the terrorist attacks that have happened in the past 20 years, a lot of them have been Islamists”, he said.
“We see pro-Hamas demonstrations and some vile chants. We know 99 per cent are peaceful.
“It’s up to prominent Muslims to call this nonsense out. That would unite us together. I’m sure a lot of young, British working class out there rioting are not thugs, it’s just been one too many incidents.”
Ramzy was questioned about Muslim demonstrations that have broken out in response to mobs of rioters who in some instances have targeted mosques.

“This is a problem. They attacked many houses. Mr Anderson is telling me to speak to five per cent of the people. Nigel Farage and Mr Anderson can speak out and stop this.”
The comments drew fury from Lee, who branded them “absolute rubbish” as the discussion boiled over.
“For the first time this conversation, that was absolute rubbish”, he said.

“If you are scared, you don’t go out with a knife or machete, you stop in the house. It’s absolute rubbish.
“Can you just turn him off? Can you turn the volume on? Put the news on”, he added in an apparent demand for the Islamic Centre boss to be taken off air.
It comes amid a spate of widespread disorder across Britain, triggered by the fatal stabbings of three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club in Southport last week.
Justice minister Heidi Alexander said the Government will bring more than 500 additional prison places into use to deal with rioting, and some 6,000 specialist police officers were at the ready.
