Scotland Yard confirmed six Just Stop Oil activists were arrested at an East London community centre

Six ecozealots from Just Stop Oil were arrested tonight ahead of a botched plot to disrupt British holidaymakers, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.

Officers arrested the six activists for a Public Order Act which makes it illegal to conspire to disrupt national infrastructure.

In a warning to future plans to disrupt flights, Scotland Yard said: "Activists do not have the right to commit criminal acts that may also endanger themselves and others.

"Anyone who disrupts the safety and security of an airport can expect to be dealt with swiftly and robustly."

In footage released by Just Stop Oil, activists were placed under arrest as at least half a dozen officers descended on the community centre.

An officer said: "The moment in time is 6.47pm. I'm placing you under arrest for conspiracy to cause an interference to infrastructure in the UK, okay?"

"I've come here for soup," a soon-to-be handcuffed eco-activist insisted.

Another protester was told that he was suspected of "taking part to plot to cause serious disruption to UK airports" by attending the event in East London tonight.

The first Just Stop Oil activist was marched out of the community centre surrounded by police officers.

Another demonstrator said: "I'm being arrested. I'm at my parents house right now.

"I was just here in London visitng my parents. I think I've been told I'm under arrest for conspiracy to commit public nuisance.

"Well, this is what happens when you resist the British state."

Just Stop Oil activists claimed responsibility last week for targeting "multiple private jets" at London's Stansted Airport just hours after Taylor Swift's plane touched down in Essex.

Stansted Airport denied Swift's jet was "parked" at the private airfield and Essex Police later confirmed the claim.

A Stansted Airport spokesman told GB News: "Shortly after 5am, Essex Police arrested two protestors who had entered the private aviation area of the airfield, away from the runway and main passenger terminal.

"As a precaution, runway operations were suspended for a short period, but no flights were disrupted, and the airport and flights are operating as normal."
