Tens of thousands have Britons have flooded the streets calling for a ceasefire

Pro-Palestine protests have been lamented by Salem Media Groups’s Julie Hartman, who claims they show the extent of “brainwash” in Western societies.

Tens of thousands have Britons have flooded the streets calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict, and have been hit with criticism in doing so.

Home Secretary Suella Braverman is among figures to have hit out at the demonstrations, branding them “hateful”.

While the majority of the protesting has been peaceful, reports have emerged of some chanting jihad and making anti-Semitic slurs.

“The scenes disturb me”, she said.

“If you look at Gen Z Americans, roughly around the ages 18 to 25, 50 per cent are pro-Israel, 50 per cent are pro-Hamas.

“That shows you the extent of the brainwash. In the United States, we have been taught to divide the world between oppresser and oppressed.

“They tell us they are categories that cannot be changed. No matter what happens, if you are Judeo-Christian and Western, you are the oppressor, and if you are in any kind of minority, you are the oppressed.’

It comes amid suggestions that protesters are set to stage a demonstration on Armistice Day.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has criticised the idea, suggesting it would be “provocative and disrespectful”.

He said there is a “clear and present risk that the Cenotaph and other war memorials could be desecrated”.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, Sunak said: “To plan protests on Armistice Day is provocative and disrespectful, and there is a clear and present risk that the Cenotaph and other war memorials could be desecrated, something that would be an affront to the British public and the values we stand for.

“The right to remember, in peace and dignity, those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for those freedoms must be protected.

“I have asked the Home Secretary (Suella Braverman) to support the Met Police in doing everything necessary to protect the sanctity of Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said it is “incredibly important” protesters understand the importance of Remembrance events and the Met Police ensure they “stay away from the Cenotaph”.

The Met has committed to a “significant policing and security operation” across London this weekend as thousands prepare to march again.

It added protest groups have not indicated plans to march on Remembrance Sunday on November 12 but a significant demonstration is expected on the Saturday.

The Met added: “We’re absolutely committed to ensuring the safety and security of anyone attending commemorative events.”
