Jimmy Carr's dad has called for the comedian to be stripped of an honour bestowed upon him unless he apologises for a joke that "crossed the line".
Carr the comedian was given the Certificate of Irish Heritage in 2013, with his parents both coming from the city of Limerick.
But his dad has objected to jokes his son made about his Irish heritage and the potato famine.
Carr senior now believes the mayor of Limerick should strip him of the honour unless he issues an apology.
He said: "He’s one sick comedian, literally and metaphorically. It looks like it anyway.

"Leave all that aside, I don’t want somebody writing that about Limerick in a book.”
Jimmy had written in his book Before & Laughter about his parents coming from Limerick.
He wrote: "I might seem urbane, but I’m the son of two immigrants from Limerick who moved to Slough (they moved from a s*** town to another s*** town, I guess they knew what they liked).”

Jim Carr also objects to a joke his son made about the potato famine, where he write: "How many potatoes does it take to kill an Irishman?"
Jim Carr also told the Limerick Leader: "“It’s the style of his comedy, I am not shocked or surprised that my son referred to Limerick and Slough.
"He is, after all, a shock jock. His defence will be ‘they are only words, I’m only having a laugh’. But there are people reading that Limerick is a s*** town and Slough is a s*** town."
He added: "The Famine - that’s our Holocaust for God’s sake."
Carr senior added that he loved his son, but he was sullying his name.
Jimmy Carr is yet to respond to the remarks made by his dad.
