A Jet2 flight travelling from Alicante to Manchester was forced to divert to Barcelona after passengers became disruptive on board.
The incident occurred on Friday when flight LS881 was halfway through its journey.
Pilots made the decision to land in Barcelona so that police could remove the troublesome passengers from the aircraft.
The diversion caused significant delays for other travellers on board.
The flight eventually continued its journey to Manchester Airport, arriving approximately three hours later than scheduled.
A spokesman for the airline confirmed the incident had taken place.
"Flight LS881 diverted to Barcelona so that police could offload some disruptive passengers," he said.
The spokesman added: "As a family-friendly airline, we take a zero-tolerance approach to disruptive behaviour."

PAThis marks the second incident involving a Jet2 flight requiring an unplanned landing in recent days.
In a separate incident, another Jet2 aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger died onboard.
The flight was travelling from Tenerife to the UK on Friday evening when the emergency occurred.
Crew members alerted air traffic control that a male passenger was suffering a severe medical emergency and required urgent attention.

PAThe aircraft diverted to Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport on the Spanish mainland to seek immediate medical assistance.
Emergency services were waiting for the plane upon landing.
Despite their rapid response, the man was pronounced dead on the runway.
Jet2 has not provided further details about the identity of the deceased passenger or the nature of the disruption on the Alicante flight.
