Isis has made a threat to use bombs to target this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.

The terrorist organisation has shared a picture of a faceless person operating a drone carrying a package marked 'gift' towards the Eiffel Tower.

The image was shared to al-Ru’ud (al-Raud), a website linked to Isis with the caption: "Lone wolves' Olympics have begun with the Will of Allah."

The page is titled: "The Lone Wolves qualifiers have begun, God willing Al-Adiyat Media Foundation."

It comes after French police tightened security around Paris Saint-Germain's Parc des Princes stadium in April following a threat of attacks by Islamic State.

The resurgent Islamic State militant group had urged attacks against host venues of the Champions League semi-finals, including with drones.

In March, Isis called for "lone wolves" to engage in a massacre of Christians and Jews across the US, Europe and Israel to coincide with Ramadan

A spokesperson for the extremists also claimed that the presence of American troops in Iraq would "lead to more attacks from the group". It comes as the group commemorates the 10th anniversary of its declaration of a caliphate in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

It comes after a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being an Isis terrorist - after he was caught trying to sneak his way into the Euro 2024 football tournament as a security guard.

The suspect, named only as Soufian T, is alleged to have applied to work security on 'side events' outside a stadium in Germany, which is hosting the tournament in less than a week's time.

Authorities assessing his job application found he had been deemed a potential Islamist threat by state security services.

It prompted Cologne police to arrest Soufian, a German-Moroccan-Polish citizen, at Cologne-Bonn Airport.

Security officials claim he had also applied for security accreditations at other major German events, namely the 24-Hour Nurburgring motorsport endurance race and Rock am Ring, a music festival also held at the circuit.

The investigation is ongoing.
