ONS has released its latest population estimates for England and Wales for 2023

The population of England and Wales has continued to grow despite with the year to the middle of 2023 seeing the largest annual increase in at least 75 years.

In the year, ONS estimates that 1,084,000 people immigrated to England and Wales from outside the UK - while 462,000 emigrated.

Net migration stands at 622,000 for the year so far.

We expose five staggering charts which show Britain's population has exploded in recent months and how international immigration is outstripping natural change in population tenfold.

There has never been a nation in history that has been able to sustain the change and speed of demographic and population change.

The population of England and Wales at mid-year 2023 was estimated to be 60.9 million (60,854,727).

This is an increase of 610,000 (1.0%), the largest annual numerical increase in at least 75 years.

The increase is outstripping the population change in mid-1948 which reflected the continued return of armed forced personnel following the end of the Second World War and the high number of births.
