A Clacton-on-sea business owner urged ministers to put asylum seekers to work as he vented that "illegal immigrants are costing the Government too much money."
The quarterly migration figures have been released today, showing a drastic drop in both legal and illegal immigrants in the UK in the year ending June 2024.
The figures showed a reduction in the numbers applying for visas including the health worker visas.
Even though migration numbers have dropped, the statistics show that the number of small boats crossing the channel has risen.

Explaining how these numbers affect businesses, Deepak Patel who is the CEO of the Dees group, told GB News: "We're going to find it tough in certain areas of our businesses, especially hospitality because of the stricter visa rules for those coming over.
"We're going to struggle in staffing within chefs or with waiting staff, we're struggling in certain areas around the country.

"The care industry is really struggling at the moment and it's really going to impact that industry.
"Care has grown in quite a big amounts over the last few years, due to the amount of care needed for the elderly population and people with complex care."
Speaking about illegal migration, he said: "It's costing the Government too much money to keep putting them in hotels and trying to look after these asylum seekers.
"If they can work as soon as they get here, I'm sure that will relieve the pressure on the Government and the funds the Government is having to spend on them."
