A staple fashion retailer is set to close more of its stores this month

New Look will shut amore stores by the end of February following the closure of four shops last month.

The news is a further blow to the UK high street, which is still recovering after the pandemic.

Last month, stores in Fort Shopping Park site in Birmingham, Birmingham Bullring, Trowbridge, and Coventry were all closed.

The clothing brand is now set to close stores in Walthamstow (London), Northampton and Kirkcaldy this month.

Stores in Coventry, Trowbridge and Kirkcaldy will shut “following the landlord's request to take the property back and exit the lease early”.

New Look - which has more than 400 sites in the UK – opened two new sites at the end of last year and has a further four planned.

A spokesperson for New Look said: “As part of the normal course of business, New Look occasionally closes sites, but also opens new stores when the right opportunities arise.

“While a small number of stores have closed in recent months, our most recent new openings were in November 2022 and we have plans for further openings in the first half of this year.”

Last month, Paperchase was bought by Tesco after the stationary chain collapsed into administration.

And just last week, M&Co announced the closure of 170 shops nationwide.

New Look previously introduced a partnership with second-hand clothing website Re-Fashion as it launched six new in-store concessions.

These include Re-Fashion concessions within its Nottingham, Peterborough, Leicester, Loughborough and Wolverhampton stores amid a move to create awareness for more sustainable clothes buying.
