Jac Davies avoided a prison sentence after his defence lawyer pushed for 'parity' with Edwards
A convicted paedophile linked to disgraced BBC presenter Huw Edwards has been spared jail after being found to have possessed 84 indecent images of children.
Jac Davies, 25, avoided a prison sentence at Leeds Magistrates' Court today after his defence lawyer pushed for "parity" with Edwards, who received a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Davies had been given child sexual abuse material by Alex Williams, who also shared images with Edwards.
Stewart Page told the court: "You are aware of a certain individual who was sentenced a number of months ago... He too had no previous convictions.
"The offences that that individual appeared before the court were similar to what Davies appears, and of course you are aware, because the prosecutor outlined this, that a suspended sentence was imposed on that case."

Davies was found to have been in possession of 84 indecent images, some of which involved babies.
Addressing the most serious images found - known as category A images - prosecutor Michelle Kruger told the court: "One of them was a moving image in a bedroom location showing a baby lying on a bed."
Kruger said an adult male could be seen performing a sex act on the infant.
She added that some of Davies's other images featured boys aged three to five.

In total, the court heard Davies was found to be in possession of 36 category A images, 30 category B and 18 category C.
Kruger said a chat on the messaging app Telegram was also found by officers in which Davies spoke to others about how he wanted to "destroy newborns" and went into "graphic detail" about what he would do to them.
The paedophile also pleaded guilty to possession of Class A drugs.
Davies was investigated after police found him to have been involved in the sharing of images with Edwards-linked Alex Williams.
"South Wales Police had been dealing with Alex Williams," she said. "As part of the investigation into that individual, this defendant was found to have been involved in indecent images being shared.
"Also involved... was a link between Alex Williams and Huw Edwards, the BBC News presenter."

Davies has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to attend an accredited sexual offending group work programme for up to 43 days and undertake 55 days of rehabilitation.
The paedophile was also told he would be prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16 - except in the presence of a parent or another appropriate adult.
He will remain on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
