Police have launched an urgent search for a 12-year-old boy who failed to return home from school in Fareham, Hampshire last Wednesday.

Riley, whose surname has not been released by Hampshire Police, was reported missing on Wednesday afternoon after not failing to return from classes.


Officers have been conducting enquiries to locate the missing schoolboy since his disappearance.

Hampshire Police is appealing to the public for any information about Riley's whereabouts as concerns for his safety grow.

Riley is described as white, around 5ft 5ins tall, with a slim build and short, dark brown hair.

A distinctive feature is a scar on his upper left lip.

The 12-year-old was last seen when he left for school on Wednesday.

While Riley may still be in the Fareham area, police believe he has links to both Basingstoke and Coventry in the West Midlands.

Anyone with information about Riley's whereabouts is asked to call 101, quoting the same reference number.

A statement released by the force reads: "Can you help us find a missing boy from Fareham?

"Riley was reported missing on Wednesday afternoon (January 8), when he did not return home from school.

"Since then, officers have been making enquiries to try and locate him, but we are also now turning to you for assistance."

A Hampshire Police spokesperson added: "If you see Riley, then please call 999 and quote the reference 44250010300."
