The Israeli Defence Force has launched a vehement defence against claims that Israeli rockets destroyed a hospital in Gaza, which has left hundreds dead.
The Al-Ahli Arab Hospital was hit by a missile at just before 7pm, with Hamas reporting that over 500 people were killed in the blast.
If true, this would make it the deadliest bombing of the five wars Israel and Hamas have fought over Gaza, though some have put the number closer to 300.
The IDF’s evidence includes audio reportedly presenting a conversation between two Hamas members, as they realise the rocket may have come from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an independent jihadist group.

The video, provided and translated by the Israeli Military Intelligence, begins with the first Hamas operative saying: “I’m telling you, this is the first time that we see a missile like this falling, and so that’s why we are saying it belongs to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”
The second Hamas member asks “It’s from us?!”, with the first replying, “It looks like it.”
He goes on to explain “They are saying that the shrapnel from the missile is local shrapnel and not like Israeli shrapnel.”
After a length of silence the second operative finally responds: “God bless, it couldn’t have found another place to explode?”

His companion goes on to speculate over where exactly the rocket came from: “They shot it coming from the cemetery behind the Al-Ma'amdani Hospital and it misfired and fell on them.”
Evidence provided on the IDF’s twitter page also included a clip they claimed showed a rocket misfiring over Gaza at the time of the strike.
Similarly, a 30-second video with aerial images of the area has been used to show that there is no structural damage to buildings around the hospital, which would have been present as part of an Israeli air strike.
The IDF has called out a number of news outlets, including the BBC, on social media site X for claiming that Israel was the cause of the attack in the hours immediately after, stressing the need for fact-checking measures when reporting.
Tzipi Hotovely spoke to GB News after a Gaza hospital bombing GB NEWS
Israel has come under fire this past week for the scope of its retaliation against Palestinian group Hamas despite the likelihood of civilian casualties, though it continues to defend its actions.
Speaking on GB News, Israeli ambassador to the UK Tzipi Hotovely said: “Every human loss is a tragedy and we definitely don’t target civilians in this war.”
President Joe Biden reacted to the strike while meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today.
“I was deeply saddened and outraged by the explosion at the hospital in Gaza yesterday," Mr Biden said. "Based on what I've seen, it appears as though it was done by the other team, not you. But there's a lot of people out there not sure, so we have to overcome a lot of things."
