A local council has been tipped to replace flying the Union Jack on special occasions but display transgender and Palestine flags.
Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow, is expected to drop the UK’s national flag for regal birthdays, including for the King.
Green Councillor Dan Hutchinson claimed the current situation does not reflect the attitudes of the “progressive” city.
Hutchinson also called for the Red Flag to fly for workers and for Glasgow to raise a German flag to mark reunification.

He said: “I’m a republican, I always have been a republican, but I think it’s probably fair to say from my perspective that the Queen was probably a bit different and there was quite a lot of respect for the longevity that she had in the role.
“But now, nobody really cares. Charles (below) has never had a great reputation and it’s not really 21st-century Scotland.
“Our thinking is Glasgow has always tried to be an internationalist city so we’re trying to move back to that rather than the royal stuff I don’t think anyone cares about.
“Glasgow has large diasporas from these countries.

PAThe motion will be brought to full council next week.
Hutchison’s motion said: “Council agrees that its current flag protocol does not adequately reflect the progressive and internationally minded city of the modern day.”
It continued: “Council agrees that adopting flags such as the Transgender Flag and the Red Flag signifies support for both Glasgow’s Transgender community and Workers, in a similar vein as the current protocol does with International Women’s Day and International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDHBT).”
However, any changes would need to be approved by a majority of councillors for the proposals to progress.
A flag to celebrate the Lunar New Year may also be displayed following consultation.

The decision to fly a number of foreign flags comes as Glasgow is twinned with cities across the world.
Glasgow Tories leader Councillor Thomas Kerr was far from happy with the proposal.
He said: “The Greens are so detached from reality - this is where their priorities sit, debating flags.
“What a complete waste of taxpayers' time and money. Glaswegians deserve and expect better.”
Scottish Tory MSP Stephen Kerr added: “Glasgow: Do you know what your (Green) councillors are up to?
“Debating about Gaza, and putting in motions to fly the French, German, Cuban, and other flags. What a use of your council tax money.”
