A four-year-old girl is in critical condition following a serious car accident in Glasgow on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident, which involved a white MG HS vehicle, occurred around 3pm on Cumberland Street in the Gorbals area.


Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the collision.

The young child was immediately transported to the Royal Hospital for Children, where medical staff have described her condition as critical.

The driver of the car, a 57-year-old man, escaped the incident without injury.

Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The force also issued an urgent appeal for witnesses and further information.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: "Our thoughts are with everyone involved and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened."
