A young American TikTok user has divided online users, after posting a video expressing her stress and despair over not having time “to do anything” because of her 9 to 5 job.
Gen Z influencer Brielle, who goes by the name brielleybelly123 on TikTok, burst into tears as she described her typical work day and how it's "dark by the time she gets off" from her shift.
In the viral video, which has racked up over three million views on the social media app, Brielle asked her followers for advice and if she was "being dramatic and annoying" in her rant.

Brielle said: "I'm commuting in the city and it takes me forever to get there. There's no way I'm going to be able to afford living in the city right now, so that's off the table.
"Like, yeah, if I was able to walk to work it would be fine. But I'm not."
Detailing her commute, Brielle fumed: "I get on the train at 7:30 and I don't get home till like 6:15 earliest. And then I don't have time to do anything.
"I want to shower, eat my dinner and go to sleep. I don't have time or energy to cook my dinner either."
Expressing her anger at the 9-5 working lifestyle, Brielle said she was "so upset", complaining that she "doesn't have the energy to work out".
She clarified it was "nothing to do with the job at all", but said the 9:00 to 5:00 schedule "in general is crazy".
Brielle began to cry as she continued: "I know it could be worse. I know I could be working longer. But I literally get off, it's pitch black. Like, I don't have energy. How do you have friends?
"How do you have time to meet a guy? I don't know. How do you have time for dating? I don't have time for anything. And I'm so stressed out. Am I so dramatic?"

Fellow TikTok users took to the comments to react to Brielle's take on working life. One Gen Z user said: "The 40 hour work week is beyond outdated and your feelings are totally valid."
Another related to Brielle's rant, stating: "Gen Z need to collectively move up into management positions and then collectively enforce the 4 day work week."
One comment from an older user on the app hit back at Brielle: "Ok Gen X here and this cracks me up. I did a full time job and 2 part time jobs while going to college full time. I’m on call now 24/7. 9-5 is amazing."
User 'Amandacolter6' was in agreement with the Gen X commenter, replying to the video: "It’s crazy to me that younger generations are not prepared to work. My parents both worked, we knew that’s what adult life was and still is."
