GB News has extended its distribution partnership with Arqiva, in a significant new agreement which will help the People’s Channel meet its aim of reaching every TV and radio device in the UK.
The agreement, which spans multiple years, includes Digital Terrestrial Television (Freeview) and Direct To Home satellite TV spectrum, DAB+ Radio spectrum, and broadcast connectivity lines. Viewers accessing GB News via FreeSat will also benefit from the landmark renewal.
The deal reinforces GB News' dedication to providing free-to-air mass reach linear distribution on TV and Radio. Unlike rival broadcasters, who are scaling back on free-to-access content, GB News remains “steadfastly committed” to providing it.
Commenting, Marc Schipper, Chief Operating Officer at GB News, said: “We’re delighted to expand on our relationship with Arqiva, who boast an unrivalled record in service delivery.
“This is a landmark renewal for GB News, and the collaboration will ensure our audience has the best possible access to our award-winning content for many years to come.
“It will also further help GB News to deliver on our steadfast commitment to provide free to air mass reach linear distribution to every TV and Radio device in the UK.
“Mass reach television and radio can play a key role in driving forward the national debate in a complementary way to our booming digital and social media distribution, and GB News remains determined to provide this service.
“We are also looking forward to working with Arqiva to develop new and innovative additional services that will benefit our growing audience across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, particularly because our current mass reach services have had a strong, positive effect on the growth of our digital and social media audiences.”
Arqiva is a key partner for broadcasters across all major UK television platforms, delivering their content into households via Sky, Freesat, Freeview, and the YouView platforms.
Freeview currently helps ensure GB News is available to more than 90 per cent of UK homes. And more than 90 per cent of the UK population can also listen to GB News Radio via the Digital One national multiplex, also provided by Arqiva.
Gaurav Jandwani, Executive Director, Media & Broadcast at Arqiva, said: “We are proud of our long-standing distribution partnership with GB News and are delighted to be extending our relationship.
“GB News understands the role of mass reach, free to air content of both TV and radio in reaching their audiences. Linear distribution forms an important part of their distribution strategy, for example alongside social media and streaming, and we are looking forward to supporting them in all aspects of their long term hybrid future.”
