Argentina raced into a two-goal lead after Lionel Messi opened the scoring, before Angel Di Maria added to their lead with a beautifully worked goal.
But France fought back with a sensational hat-trick from Kylian Mbappe.
Following the incredible final, Lineker Jr revealed his £4276.40 win after building an intricate bet for Sunday’s showdown.
He correctly predicted that both Messi and Mbappe would score during the match and that the full time 90-minute score would be 2-2.
Lineker also backed Argentina to lift the trophy after penalties and successfully anticipated that there would be more than one card and over five corners during the match.
Reacting on Twitter after the match, he said “If anyone deserves to win a bet, I think it’s me. Thank you all.”
Argentina's success is Lionel Messi's first in the tournament, with the 35-year-old finally bringing home the trophy that has eluded him throughout his career.
