Nigel Farage disagrees with James Cleverly over the impact of the weather on reduced numbers,

Nigel Farage has offered the Home Secretary the opportunity to debate him one-on-one over small boat crossings after 700 people crossed the English Channel today.

Farage, who disagrees with James Cleverly over the impact of the weather on reduced numbers, also warned the water tomorrow will be ‘as flat as a pancake’ and 'hundreds' will be getting ready to make the crossing.

Speaking on GB News, Nigel Farage said:

“Over the course of the last two days, over 700 people crossed the English Channel on small boats. Why? Because the weather was good.

“And this is why I was getting so upset with James Cleverly over the Christmas period saying – ‘Oh look, no one's coming.’

“Well, it was blowing 50 miles an hour every day.

“We've written to him today and offered him a 10-minute slot, one on one, anytime between 1900hrs and 2000hrs tonight to show us how determined he was to stop the boats.

“We haven't yet heard back.

“Tomorrow [The Channel’s] going to be as flat as a pancake. There'll be many, many hundreds right now getting ready in the sand dunes all across northern France.

“And even if the French police intercept boat after boat, there'll be plenty of others that follow.

“And all the while you can come to this country, and you realize your risk of deportation is hovering around about 1- 1.2% and that actually you’ll be put into a nice hotel.

“You can then abscond if you wish, join a criminal gang with almost no chance of being caught, then people will continue to come and it's just as simple as that.”
