One shocked resident said she found the creepy-crawlies near her back door and on the window
Families were left horrified after witnessing maggots rain down from the sky following the heatwave that has engulfed the UK.
Shocked residents watched in disbelief as the creatures “rained down” on their homes out of nowhere.
The maggots, which are the larvae of flies and commonly found in decaying matter, were found inside and outside of homes across Lancashire.
Unlucky residents who were “rained on” by the bugs took to social media to express their shock.

People from Blackpool, Bispham and Lytham St Annes asked in various online community groups if anyone else had noticed the “raining maggots” following the weekend’s heatwave.
Coral Bolton, a resident of South Shore, Blackpool, spotted the creatures in her home.
She recounted: “I found some crawling up my back door and on the window even though my bin is nowhere near the back of the house.”
Bolton decided to look online to see if anyone else was experiencing the same bizarre situation as her.
She decided to leave them, confident that they had not come from her bin, and was relieved to discover that by morning they had vanished.
Jamie Louise Didlock, from Fleetwood, discovered the pesky creatures one evening after walking her dog with her daughter.
She said: “There were maggots crawling up the window doors.
“I started googling about why maggots would be there as my bins aren't even close to my door. I checked near my bins and there were none. Really weird!”

In Bispham, Tracey-May Clarke had a horrifying experience on Monday, when she discovered her bin covered with maggots.
Her bin bag was securely tied, yet the bin was overrun, suggesting the bugs did not originate from her waste.
Maggots thrive in warm temperatures and moist environments.
This makes household bins a breeding ground for the creatures.
It is important to regularly clean and inspect bins to ensure there are no maggots.
