PAThe pilot made an urgent appeal for any doctors or nurses onboard to come forward as the situation developed.
Air traffic controllers later revealed the reason for the diversion was that crew members were attempting to "revive a 67-year-old female passenger who was unconscious."
The passenger is understood to have been travelling with her husband and a friend at the time of the medical emergency.
Passengers on the diverted flight were accommodated in local hotels overnight following the emergency landing.
They continued their onward journeys home after spending the night in Galicia.
