An easyJet customer has hit out at the airline after he was fined £48 for his "large" bag, even though it easily fitted into the airport bag checker.
Jake Hughes was trying to board his flight from Manchester Airport last Wednesday but faced issues when a member of the company's staff said his hand luggage was oversized.
Hughes made the claim that easyJet threatened to "terminate" his ticket if he did not pay the sizeable sum, requesting that any footage he had taken of the situation was deleted.
In a video which he shared online, Hughes said that easyJet's actions were "ridiculous" and insisted that the "bag fits perfectly" in the cabin bag size checker.

The airline's staff member responded, asking him to remove his bag from the size checker to accommodate other passengers.
He said: "No, I'm actually going to leave it in there. I need a manager to see this. Someone higher up than you to see this."
After the member of staff claimed to be a manager, Hughes said: "I'm not trying to be difficult. I'm just saying £48 for that is ridiculous.
"I bought this bag specially because it's an easyJet bag."

At the end of the video, Hughes claimed that the same staff member charged most passengers the same fee, informing them that they would be unable to board the flight if they refused to pay.
Relating to Hughes' video, one user commented: "This happened to my daughter last week at Manchester Airport, she didn't have any money to pay for the bag.
"Other people offered to pay and they wouldn't allow it."
Meanwhile, another offered some advice to those facing similar predicaments, writing: "Send the video immediately to customer service chat and they'll refund you immediately.

An easyJet spokesperson said: "We are investigating with our ground handling provider at Manchester airport to understand why Mr Hughes was charged for his bag which appears to be in line with his allowance, and we have been in touch with him to refund the charge."
Issues surrounding budget airlines and bag charges are not unique to easyJet; Ryanair most recently repaid one of its customers as a "gesture of goodwill" after it imposed a £100 fine on the unsuspecting customer.
