He said: “Everyone is saying I’m going to turn the economy around. I did it twice already, if you think about it.

“Our cities that are Democrat-run are crime-infested rat holes.”

The biggest city in California is Los Angles, led by Democrat mayor Karen Bass, while the Mayor of New York is Eric Adams, also a Democrat.

Trump, who is running to return to the White House in 2024, has taken a significant step towards his ambitions by trouncing Ron DeSantis, who is widely expected to run against him for the Republican nomination, in a recent poll.

Released on Monday, A CBS News-YouGov poll found Trump to be at the head of a hypothetical Grand Old Party primary field with 58 per cent of the vote, while DeSantis came in at second with 22 per cent.

A buoyant Trump told GB News that he is optimistic about his chances, arguing his track record suggests he has what it takes to lead a successful US.

“I think we have a very good chance of winning next year”, he said. “The economy is not good, I can make it good, everyone knows that.

“Everyone knows Putin never would have gone into Ukraine, President Xi of China would never even be talking about Taiwan, we even had that conversation strongly.

“I stopped North Korea from doing some really bad things and my relationship with Kim Jong-Un is very good, who knows what is going to happen there.

“With Iran, we were going to make a great deal, they were going to be happy, we were going to have a great relationship, now they’re out of control.

“This world is blowing up around us, you may even lose the Dollar as the standard throughout the world, and if that happens, that’s worse than losing a war in many ways.”

Trump spoken to Nigel Farage from his Turnberry golf resort during his whistle-stop tour of Scotland.

The ex-US president spoke of his “love” for the country while outlining ambitions for his picturesque golf estate to host the Open Championship.

He told GB News: “Everybody wants to see the Open Championship here. For the players, it's a favourite course, it's the number one rated in Europe.

“In some lists, it's the number one rated anywhere in the world. They want to have the Open Championship back here. I would have thought that Sturgeon would have wanted that but she's got her own agenda.”
