David Beckham reportedly cried as he gave an emotional speech during his son Brooklyn’s, lavish weekend wedding, while he recalled the day his eldest child was born.
The football legend is said to have choked up in front of guests as he spoke about the newly weds and described his new daughter-in-law, actress Nicola Peltz, as “incredible”.
The ceremony, reported to have cost an eye-watering £3million, was held at Peltz’s billionaire father’s Florida home, previously the site for a re-election fundraiser for Donald Trump.
An insider said: “David’s speech went on for about five minutes and he looked to shed a tear at one point.
“He was talking about when Brooklyn was born and how he wanted to protect him.
“He said he was sleeping on the hospital floor, holding the door shut because he didn’t want to let anyone get in."

Speaking to The Sun, they added: “David got a lump in his throat and had to stop and take a breather to regain his composure, but it was a very sweet speech.”
In a tribute to Peltz during a pre-party on Friday night, the father-of-four also reportedly said: “We love you so much. We are excited that you’ll be part of the family.”
The bride wore a custom Valentino gown, with Peltz’s stylist, Leslie Fremar, telling British Vogue the dress was “the ultimate couture experience” and included a “something blue” surprise from Peltz’s mum, Claudia Heffner Peltz, with a message sewn into the skirt for her daughter.
Sharing a picture on Instagram of his new wife, aspiring chef Brooklyn captioned the picture, “My beautiful bride”, also sharing a picture of himself with footballer father David, and brothers Romeo and Cruz all suited-up, writing, “The boys”.
The magazine said the couple’s first dance was to a rendition of Only Fools Rush In performed by upcoming South African singer Lloyiso.
The wedding, reported to have cost up to around £3million, also had Beckham family friend and chef Gordon Ramsay and his family on the guest list, with British Vogue revealing that singer Marc Anthony “closed out the celebrations” on the DJ decks.
Paris Hilton, Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisa and actress and photographer Amanda de Cadenet were among those who shared their congratulations under the posts.
The couple have reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement stipulating that they will retain their own assets and properties should they divorce.
They also partnered with international humanitarian organisation Care and asked wedding guests to donate in aid of the crisis in the Ukraine.
