Cow incredibly rescued from sinkhole after plunging headfirst - WATCH

Footage has emerged of the moment a cow was rescued by its legs after it fell into a sinkhole.

Workers from Witton Castle Country Park in Bishop Auckland were called in by a farmer who explained that one of his bullocks had fallen into the hole headfirst.

Nobody was aware of the sinkhole until the animal became trapped.

The rescue was captured on film as four farmers used a tractor to hoist the cow to safety.

As the tractor reverses, his neck and head emerge, before allowing him to be placed on his back.

After being removed from the hole, the cow appears to walk a few unsteady steps before joining the rest of the herd.

The cow is not thought to be injured and is now back safely in the field.
