The Crown Prosecution Service alleged that the sticker was 'likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to other road users'

A Chester woman has pleaded not guilty to displaying an offensive bumper sticker on her car that allegedly caused harassment, alarm or distress.

Georgia Venables, 29, of Prenton Place, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday to face charges over a threatening or abusive writing displayed on her vehicle.

Prosecutor Valeriya Tonkinson told the court that Venables was seen driving on Deva Link on January 8 with a bumper sticker containing explicit language.

Tonkinson said the bumper sticker read: "Dont be a c**t."

The sticker's message was displayed on Venables' vehicle which was visible while she was driving.

The Crown Prosecution Service alleges the displayed writing was likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to other road users.

A trial has been scheduled for May 29 at Chester Magistrates Court.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Venables was granted unconditional bail until her court appearance later this year.

It comes after a BMW driver who was caught speeding at 118mph on Christmas Day had slapped their car with a sticker declaring "My driving scares me too".

The motorist was pulled over by Hampshire Police after being clocked racing along the M27 motorway at more than double the national speed limit.

The driver took advantage of quieter festive traffic conditions on the Hampshire motorway, police said.

After pulling the vehicle over, officers discovered the black BMW had been adorned with various stickers, including the driver's prophetic message.

The speeding motorist now faces court action for the alleged offence.
