GB News reporter Charlie Peters has spoken out after he attended a far-left media event hosted by the Media Reform Coalition that called for GB News to be shut down.
Yesterday, Charlie visited the panel discussion that was held at Sheffield University titled 'How do you solve a problem like GB News?'
Speaking to Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce on Britain's Newsroom, Charlie revealed event speakers said the broadcaster is fuelling the "far-right" through "tropes" and one audience member slammed the channel as a " fascist news network."

Charlie revealed: "The room was mostly empty. Which I think it goes to show that the demand for framing our channel as a 'problem' is actually quite limited.
GB News was branded a "problem" by Media Reform Coalition
"When I spoke at the end they asked why I wasn't on the panel and why I didn't introduce myself at the beginning instead of sitting at the back and just listening, but I wanted them to be able to speak as if GB News were not there, to speak openly and freely and in doing so they said some rather loopy things.
"One of the people on the panel said 'I can't bear to watch GB News' but they were on a panel trying to solve it."

Charlie also revealed how Michael Crick, who has written for The Daily Mail and is a former Political Editor of the BBC's Newsnight programme, heavily criticised the channel and claimed it should be shut down despite having appeared on it numerous times.
"Another person referred to the rise of the far-right and said that we were fuelling it," Charlie added.
"One person even said that JK Rowling was denying the holocaust in her recent commentary. I referred to the fact, afterward when speaking to the panelists, that the people who were featured had shared information online from sources that were certainly not impartial.
"GB News has no record of an invite from management but they claimed that they had reached out to presenters."
Charlie said: "I have always said, I think that GB News has always said, this is a non-bias serious channel which takes issues seriously and goes and speaks to people where they are otherwise not heard or not spoken to and we cover issues that the rest of the media don't want to cover.
"So much of what they were raising yesterday was not just about shutting us down.

"Those who were more generous towards us were doing something that I think was a bit more dangerous, which was to say that what we do is engage in tropes and conspiracy theories.
"That kind of language is actually potentially more censorious and more about shutting us down than calling for a regulator to do anything."
Speaking at the event, Charlie said: "This room is mostly empty but GB News is now regularly beating Sky and the BBC at breakfast. Last week it was Britain's number one news channel and on at least one day it beat Sky News.
"There is a place for this broadcaster, there is a place for this platform. People are tuning in because they are being ignored by other channels.
On their website the Media Reform Coalition describe themselves as : "We campaign for a more democratic and accountable media, where diversity, public interest and ethical journalism come before the private gain of a few media moguls."
GB News, which has been targeted by a far-left advertising boycott since before it even launched, recently announced a membership scheme to allow viewers who want to support the channel to do so directly.
