Customers who have recently purchased the food items have been urged to return them and will receive a full refund.

Supermarkets across Britain have started pulling cereal and other products from their shelves over safety concerns.

Tesco, Aldi and Iceland have all pulled a number of popular items and urged customers not to eat them if they have already purchased the products.

The Food Standards Agency sent out an allergy alert, saying Tesco would be recalling its Free From Bran Flakes after some packets were found to contain another cereal.

Chocolate Pillows, another popular Tesco cereal, have been found in the bran flakes and contain milk and hazelnuts, posing a threat to anyone with dairy or nut allergies.

The ingredients are not listed on the cereal box and customers have been urged to return the product to their nearest Tesco store where they can receive a full refund.

Customers will not be required to provide a receipt or proof of purchase to receive their refund.

The recall concerns 300g packets with a best before date of 26 May 2024.

The Food Standards Agency explained: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold.

“Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

“Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.

“When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”

The product flavours being recalled are Birthday Cake, Cookie Dough, Salted Caramel, Peanut Butter, Protein Mint, Jaffa Orange, Peanut Butter and Cookie Dough.

In a statement, Aldi wrote: “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Harvest Morn High Protein Bars because in some cases allergens are not emphasised in bold on the packaging.

“Anyone who has bought this product and suffers from an allergy or intolerance to the ingredients listed, should return it to any Aldi store for a full refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
