CCTV footage captured a vehicle pulling into a lay-by on the road, where the driver was seen exiting and depositing the mattresses.

The driver then left the scene, abandoning the waste at the roadside.

Through vehicle records, investigators traced the car back to Zaid.

When interviewed under caution, Zaid admitted to dumping the mattresses.

The magistrates imposed a £416 fine and ordered Zaid to pay costs of £1,500.

A victim surcharge of £166 brought the total penalty to £2,082.

Thomas Broom, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment, said: "This man took what he thought was the easy option when it came to getting rid of his waste, but he found out the hard way that breaking the law is never a sensible option and in Bucks, we won't tolerate fly-tipping of any sort."

Last week, Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick took to the streets of Birmingham with GB News, where serious fly-tipping has left the area looking like a "slum".

Locals in Handsworth, Birmingham awoke to a deluge of rubbish, including mattresses, sofas, bathtubs and tyres - dumped outside their homes.

Yet more than a month later, not all of this rubbish had been cleared: "It still looks like a disgrace. There's dirty underwear lying in the street!" exclaimed a horrified Jenrick.

Elsewhere, a 78-year-old Derby pensioner has been left feeling "fed up and sick" over persistent fly-tipping outside her Alvaston home.

Jackie Blaney, who has lived on Wilkins Drive for more than 50 years, said last week she feels embarrassed to have visitors due to the mounting piles of rubbish.

The waste has been accumulating since September last year outside Brindley Court flats, opposite her home.

"Every time I open my curtains in the morning you see it. It's awful," Blaney told Derbyshire Live.

The site has become a dumping ground for unwanted furniture, fridge freezers, mattresses and cardboard.
