Britons would be willing to fight with pride if conscription kicked in as worldwide tensions continue to ramp up, it has been suggested.
GB News reporter Theo Chikomba took to the streets of Herne Bay, Kent to find out whether such a prospect would appeal.
It comes after a chilling warning issued to Britons that they could be called up to fight if war breaks out with Russia.
According to Chief of the general staff Sir Patrick Sanders, the military is “too small” to handle the conflict on its own and conscription may be necessary.

One Briton was enamoured by the idea and spoke about his previous attempt to join the army.
“I would like to join the army”, he said.

“I’ve tried joining before, but they were quite strict on criminal records. I did some things when I was younger.
“Hopefully they can change the legacy and allow people to join without a criminal record affecting their application.”
Another added that she would be willing to fight, adding that such a ploy could give people a “purpose”.
“Other countries have armies, if we didn’t have anyone to fight, that would be it”, she said.

Getty“It would give a lot of people who may not have a lot of confidence a purpose.
“It would also depend on what they are fighting for.”
Another Briton was not too keen on the idea, suggesting many would disagree with the conflict they could end up being sent to.
“The Government might send you somewhere, like the war in Israel, where people would disagree”, he said.
“Why would they want to join the army to fight a conflict they totally disagree with?”
Despite General Sir Patrick’s comments, it has been reported that he is not in favour of conscription.
Nato bosses have warned allied nations to be prepared for possible further aggression from Vladimir Putin’s forces.
