Boris Johnson and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rome on Saturday.
Johnson encouraged Draghi to go further in his climate finance commitments to help developing countries adopt clean technology, his Downing Street office said on Saturday.
Leaders from the world's 20 richest economies are due to commit this weekend to tackling the existential threat of climate change, ahead of the UN climate change summit next week in Glasgow.
