Staffordshire Police are trying to locate the driver and a pair of passengers, all of whom fled the scene

Police have launched an urgent manhunt after a woman in her 60s was killed by a van being pursued by police at a Birmingham golf course.

The incident occurred at Aston Wood Golf Club in Little Aston, Sutton Coldfield last Friday morning - and the victim, who had been in a "critical condition" over the weekend, died on Tuesday night, Staffordshire Police said.

Police are continuing to search for the driver, as well as two passengers who fled the scene.

The victim had been airlifted to hospital with "life-changing injuries" after the collision, which took place around 10.15am on Friday.

Staffordshire Police confirmed that the woman's family are being supported by specialist officers.

The police watchdog is independently investigating the incident, which began when officers in two patrol cars followed a grey Nissan van after receiving reports of suspicious activity.

The force has issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to the collision as they continue their search for those responsible.

Dashcam footage from the scene shows a van speeding past a car on a roundabout whilst being chased by a police car.

Separate CCTV footage captured the moment the van left the A4026 between Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone before veering up a bank beside the entrance road.

Two police cars appeared to be in pursuit, with further video showing an officer jumping out of their vehicle and giving chase on foot over a grassy bank.

The chase was initially carried out by West Midlands Police officers, but the investigation has since been transferred to Staffordshire Police.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating West Midlands Police officers' involvement prior to the collision.

A police cordon was established at the entrance to the golf course after emergency services rushed to the scene.

Staffordshire Police have since appealed for any information that could assist their investigation.

"If you have any dashcam, CCTV, doorbell footage or if you were in the area of Blake Street and Birmingham Road between Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone at approximately 10.25am on Friday please get in touch," the force said in a statement.
