Simon Evans has hit out at Birmingham City Council for paying millions to settle ‘historic’ equal pay claims, forcing them to declare bankruptcy.
Discussing the council on Headliners, Simon Evans was joined by panellists Cressida Wetton and Josh Howie as they criticised Birmingham City Council’s reasons for going bankrupt.
Simon said: “It does make you wonder whether there isn't some kind of almost moral argument against historical settlements like that, being able to just tip a city into a catastrophe like this?”
Wetton replied: “I completely agree, because surely now there's going to be more suffering women in the city that need access to whatever the council does. I mean, when do you draw a line under it? I don't know.”
Evans continued: “It just seems like a catastrophe. I don't know how they’ll ever claw their way out of this. I don't think you call it an epidemic but it's there's definitely sometimes it’s maybe rambling on for some time until the news bothers to investigate them.”
Josh Howie shared his thoughts on the issue, saying: “It's terrible for the city.”
