The BBC have been forced to admit they edited a report into the arrest of suspected serial killer Harvey Marcelin in New York City.
They admit amending the article to reveal an alleged killer is in fact male bodied.
Shortly after publication, the BBC article made no mention of the fact the killer is biologically male and only recently identified as female.
On the 15th of March a line at the bottom of the article was added to reflect the sex of the killer.
On the 17th, which features a more prominent reference to the sex of the suspected killer, as well as an added detail the suspect only "recently" identified as the opposite sex.

The assailant Harvey Marcelin, identifying as a transgender woman, has been accused of killing Susan Leyden, aged 68, and then dismembering her body.
The victim’s head was found severed in Harvey Marcelin’s apartment, with her torso found in a shopping trolley on the street.
Police say Marcelin was captured on video riding a motorised scooter and sitting on a human leg.
Marcelin was officially rearrested on charges including murder and tampering with physical evidence in Leyden's death, the NYPD said.
The NYPD had shared video that they say shows the motorised scooter, the leg under it. They say Marcelin is later seen on video on the scooter, talking to someone else in a store that sells clothing, among other merchandise.
Marcelin had spent more than 50 years in state prison for killing two female friends.
A BBC spokesman told GB News:“This article used the suspect’s male name. It was amended to make clear that Harvey Marcelin had recently identified as a woman.”
