Austrian police have arrested a 14-year-old who is known to support Isis over an alleged major terror plot in the nation's capital.
Local media have reported that counter terror authorities arrested the Austrian national earlier this month on February 10.
It was believed that he was allegedly planning a terror plot at Vienna's Westbahnhof - a major railway station in the city.
Police found knives on his person and discovered other items at his home which indicated that he was a supporter of Islamic State.
In a separate incident, a 23-year-old Syrian refugee is currently suspected of murdering a teen and injuring five more in a town in Austria
GETTY
Before his arrest, Austrian intelligence received a tip-off that an Isis supporter was posting Islamic extremist content across several profiles on video-sharing site TikTok.
When police detained the teen, he had a knife in his pocket, according to the Interior Ministry.
Further searches of his home revealed a number of Islamic extremist books in addition to sketches of knife and machete attacks at a railway station - with some depicting attacks against police officers.
Officers found instructions to make explosive material to detonate a bomb.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
The suspect would not testify in the initial questioning.
They arrested him a few days before a vicious knife attack took place in the town of Villach last Saturday.
A 23-year-old Syrian refugee is currently suspected of murdering a teen and injuring five more in the horrific incident.
Austrian officials have claimed that the refugee became radicalised after watching Islamist content online.
Governor Peter Kaiser has demanded the "harshest consequence" - including imprisonment and deportation - after the attack.
He said: "This unbelievable atrocity must have the harshest consequences! I have always said very clearly and unequivocally: anyone who lives in Carinthia, in Austria, must respect the law and must adapt to our rules and values.
"Anyone who violates these rules must face the harshest consequences - they must be put on trial, imprisoned and deported!"
The attack came at the same time as a debate over asylum laws has gripped the European nation while last year's national election witnessed the hard-right Freedom Party climb the polls.
