High-end accommodation in the Wallington area are reportedly being offered to asylum seekers

Residents in Fareham, Hampshire have been left furious over plans to house illegal migrants in luxury apartments whilst 1,000 local people remain on social housing waiting lists.

The controversy centres on high-end accommodation in the Wallington area, which local resident Chris Douglas describes as "beautiful apartments" that British taxpayers "can only dream of living in".

The development, situated between two schools, features upmarket amenities and has sparked debate about housing priorities in the coastal town.

The apartments in question boast luxurious features, with Chris Douglas documenting the high-end finishes during a recent visit.

Chris Douglas speaking to GB News: "I was down there yesterday, took the dog for a walk round. Yes, it's a lovely part of Hampshire or a town called Fareham, which is coming up between Portsmouth and Winchester.

"Little village next door, which is Wallington. I was astounded when I saw the letter that came from Suella Braverman. She's a great MP. There's a lot for us down here.

"Obviously, as concerned as the community is around Fareham and certainly in Wallington, that they're deciding to put what it's going to be illegal migrants in this beautiful apartment. I mean, they really are not.

"This is the sort of thing that you and I, British taxpayers, especially young people, can only dream of living in this. And again, the concerns of locals not about racism. It's not about being intolerant.

"It's about the usual things. There's been a total lack of consultation, and there's going to be a huge pressure placed upon local services.

"Well, it's about community down here. We have currently thousands of people on social housing lists in Fareham waiting to get into beautiful accommodation like this.

"Unfortunately, the Home Office deem illegal migrants more important than people from Fareham to go and move into these places. It's absolutely incredible.

"I understand we've got a legal migration coming over. We've got migrants coming over here. The people are permanent, aren't against that.

"A lot of people fully understand it, accept it, we're a military town. We're right on the edge of Portsmouth. The Navy here. The Army are here.

"We understand that people come from all over the world to live in our community, and we're more than accepting it's not about being are being racist."

He explained: "This is right between two schools. It's a main thoroughfare between Warrington and two schools being cancelled. And Harrison kids are going to be walking past these places all day long.

"Hopefully there won't be any problems with these gentlemen, but they're unvetted. We don't know who they are.

"What I would say to the Home Secretary, if they're going to go ahead and they want to put migrants, can we just have the women and children?"
