A man has been charged on suspicion of murder after a woman died while walking her dog.

Anita Rose, 57, was found seriously injured by a member of the public in Brantham, Suffolk, on July 4.

She died four days later after being taken to hospital.

Suffolk Police has tonight confirmed that Roy Barclay, 55, of no fixed abode, had been charged.

He will appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Rose had taken her springer spaniel Bruce for a walk at around 5.00am in July.

A passer-by stumbled across her lying on a track road near Rectory Lane, where Bruce remained by her side.

The dog was safe and unharmed.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

In August, it was reported that a post-mortem failed to find the cause of Rose's death.

However, Suffolk Police said officers were continuing to investigate the case as murder.

At the time of her death, a spokesperson from her family said: "Our mum was well known and loved in the community.

"She was brutally taken from us devastatingly too early, and we have been robbed of so much time with her.

"She wasn’t just a mum of six, she was also a grandma to 13, a long-term partner, a mother-in-law and a special friend to so many."

They added: "We want to thank everyone for their love and support.

"All we ask is for everyone to cherish their time with their family and loved ones."
