Nigel Farage has hit out at disparaging factions calling for GB News to be shut down.
It comes after a discussion on Newsnight last week saw Tory MP Caroline Nokes and broadcaster Adam Boulton call for The People’s Channel to be “taken off air” amid a row sparked by comments made by Laurence Fox on Dan Wootton Tonight.
Fox made a series of remarks about political journalist Ava Evans last Tuesday which GB News described as “totally unacceptable”.
The presenter has since been suspended along with Dan Wootton pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

The channel has since issued an apology to Evans.
In a discussion regarding to future of GB News, Adam Boulton said the channel is disrupting the “ecology” of the UK’s broadcast make-up.

He added that the channel should be “shut down” as a result by Ofcom, something the regulator did in 2022 with RT by deeming its licensee “not fit and proper” to hold a UK broadcast licence.
“Adam Boulton… God help us!” Farage said in response.
“Adam Boulton said we should be shut down because there is an ecology in broadcasting.
“I have been here before, they wanted UKIP closed down because they couldn’t bear us, there is no way they’re going to close GB News down.
“Last week, we made some very bad mistakes as a channel.
“It wasn’t good, but not only will we survive, we will thrive from it. This channel has a serious influence on public life in Britain and we should all be very proud of that.”
Following Tuesday night's discussion on GB News, Wootton apologised “unreservedly” for a “very unfortunate lapse in judgement”.
Fox has also since apologised saying he was "sorry for demeaning" Evans.
A statement from GB News just hours after the remarks were made on Tuesday said: “Comments made tonight on GB News by Laurence Fox were totally unacceptable.
“What he said does not reflect our values and we apologise unreservedly for the comments and the offence they have caused.
“We have launched an investigation and will be apologising to the individual involved.”
